My BIL asked us this afternoon, "What's the place with the famous Mee Udang?" So we answered back, "Kuala Sepetang". And we told him (since he has yet to go there) that we will include the photos of the Mee Udang in this blog. So, for his benefit, here goes...
So Bro! Guessed it's time for you to make the journey northbound!
Hi Mia's Mom,
ReplyDeleteI went to Kuala Sepetang last year in April. Read in a mag about Hutan Paya Bakau Kuala Sepetang. It has chalet there, thus thought of seeing it myself. Went there with a friend for weekend breakaway. Unfortunately, we were the only 2 guests and being ladies, we were advised to stay at the local hotel. Very disappointed, but no point arguing with the locals, right?
To complete our journey, we tried the Mee Udang (a stall we saw at the road side), but that Mee Udang didn't give us the feeling of "WOW!!".. May be next time we should first get the address of a well-known Mee udang there.
Wahhh...looks more udang than mee...
ReplyDeleteHi Lady Florenz!(:-D)
ReplyDeleteActually, there's a lot of stalls along the way. The more famous being "Mee Udang Mak Teh" or is it "Mak Ngah?" - sorry, I can't be too sure which of the "Mak Ciks" arrangement it is (:-D) - said it was featured in JJCM. But, since there are soo... many people at the stall, we did not stop there. We managed to find one which is quite isolated (the location is quite like a cowboy town) - can't remember what the stall (which is so humble in the outlook) is called but it is handled by men - and the Mee Udang is WOW! Oh yes, the teh tarik is also nice there. BTW, I took Mee Goreng Udang - Sedappppp....We hv been eating there for about 3 times? (:-D)
Salam Zue,
ReplyDeleteYeah that's what they said, "Selak udang baru nampak Mee" (:-D)
OMG! my favorite part of the udang is the head. bikin lapar jerrr
ReplyDeleteSalam Ida (:-D!
ReplyDeleteYesss..! Especially when it is newly caught - the head is very very very sweetttt.....(:-D)
Mia Mom's,
ReplyDeleteLook very delicious meal, is it the best meal in town Kuala Sepatang. Seem like sambal udang chinese ah? But blruuup....sedap....
Salam Zedmagel (:-D,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure whether this is the best Mee Udang or perhaps Udang Mee (since there's a lot more Udang than Mee - :-D) in Kuala Sepetang since we haven't the opportunity to try the other stalls. But, I sure like this one. You should try it! I think what makes it nice is the udangs are freshly caught and depending on your preference, you can choose the size of the udang either Medium or Large - of course the bigger the more you have to take out from your pocket!!(:-D)

ReplyDeleteThe pics are enough for me to ask you this: could you give me a guide leading to this place, thanks....i just feel like increasing my uric acid level a little bit further.
ReplyDeleteSalam Bluesman (:-D),
ReplyDeleteOf course! But being hopeless in direction, I'll ask my husband once he came back tonite. Then I'll post you, OK?
Salam Bluesman (:-D),
ReplyDeleteAs promised, here goes : Take the exit to Changkat Jering when you follow the highway northbound. You'll pass by Matang and there'll be signage for Kuala Sepetang. You will see a lot of stalls selling Mee Udang along the road including Mak Teh Mee Udang Banjir. But, if you are looking for the one which I went to, then you just pass through until you reach a cowboy-like town. Move on (in the cowboy town itself) and you will see a humble wood plank stall. If you're making the trip soon, there'll be some kind of construction going on not far from the area. I'm not sure if there's a name for the stall. But, humble though it is, the Mee Udang is Yummy! You'll be sure that you are in the right stall when you see that it is handled by men (all-man stall). And you can ask for M or L size of prawns - if you do not want Mee Udang you can try it's mee goreng with udang or just udang goreng - Goodness, makes me hungry writing it - the Udangs are fresh and sweet! Good Luck & Happy Mee Udanging - My husband said - it's "selak udang nampak mee" instead of the other way round. Oh yes! Don't forget the teh tarik!
Thanks. I'll keep the details in my wallet. Have to reduce my uric & cholesterol levels first before embarking on such an udanging journey. Thanks again. Salam.
ReplyDeleteMia moms,
ReplyDeleteMore prawn than mee ah? It intersting. Make me go down to Kuala Sepetang soon. Thanks for the note.
I be there soon. InsyaAllah.
I hope nobody will get lost. It is quite straight forward though. I am never good in giving directions it becomes a joke in the family.(:-D)
ReplyDeleteDo try it. It is delicious. I'm hoping to go there this coming school holiday. But my husband has already made the booking at Kuala Koh. Next time I think. BTW, Good Weekend, ya!
